common GST mistakes | 27.10.08
Many business owners doing the books for themselves fall into a few common GST traps. These mistakes include claiming GST credits for the entire amount on an invoice when some items are GST free (especially in the food business where many basic food items are GST free, Claiming GST credits when the supplier is not registered for GST, claiming GST credits on private use items and claiming GST on purchases when you haven't got a valid tax invoice (over $82.50 inc GST).
Other common Problems | 13.10.08
Many business owners fnd that they are so busy trying to run their business that they forget the bookkeeping. It's not surprising that PAYG, superannuation payments and GST returns often miss the ATO deadline. Forgetting and putting off debt collection is also another major issue... you have to keep on top of the people that owe you money!
